At the same time 'money-grabbing' 20-year old Raheem Sterling made his record-breaking move to Manchester City, the Bank of England were searching for the next character to feature on the £20 note. We decided to hijack the vote.
Traffic to our site went up over 69000% over the weekend of the vote as our campaign hit the front page of Buzzfeed,
The Mirror, The Metro and numerous sports blogs. Steve also appeared on BBC Radio 5 Live as the story made onto The Hit List- their round up of the week's most popular stories.
Although we weren't successful (we knew that) the Bank of England did make a statement in response to the campaign, referenced in a follow up article by The Telegraph.
